Sixty years ago virtually every cigar smoked in America was rolled domestically, but the art of making premium cigars by hand is practiced almost exclusively on foreign shores now. Miami is a holdout, with a few tiny factories located in its Little Havana neighborhood. One of its newest has produced the only American-made cigar on our list, the Casa Fernandez Miami Toro. Tabacalera Tropical opened a 2,200-square-foot factory in South Florida named Casa Fernandez Miami last summer, and moved production of most of its Casa Fernandez brand to the factory. The tiny operation works exclusively with the company's high-quality tobacco grown throughout Estelí, Condega and Jalapa, Nicaragua by Aganorsa S.A. The Casa Fernandez Miami Toro is packed with nutty and leathery flavors, and the finish smacks of a creamy cup of cappuccino.
